Pastor Lyle and Dee came from Pennsylvania to Decatur, Illinois 13 years ago. They have three married children; one son living in Maryland, and a son and daughter that moved here from Pennsylvania about 6 years ago. They have 5 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. They love being great-grandparents even though they are too young—really maybe young enough to keep up???
Pastor Lyle and Dee are in the process of remodeling an old Victorian home in the Historical District of Decatur and loving it--even though some people think they aren’t too bright!
Pastor Lyle enjoys riding his motorcycle, hunting, and making enough on Ebay to pay for his bike, while Dee enjoys staying at home and reading a good book when time allows it. They both enjoy going back east to visit family! They also enjoy spending time with friends.
Pastor Lyle collects baseball memorabilia and Dee collects Barbie Dolls. Right now their collections are on hold due to the work of the house.
Dee teaches a Sunday morning adult Sunday School class and Pastor Lyle teaches a motivating Wednesday evening adult class. Pastor always has great visions for the church that include close range and far reaching visions. He is very motivated and passionate in his vision of where the church can be. He is always open to new ideas and possibilities of new ways to minister.
Pastor Lyle is a people loving person and feels everyone that comes through the doors of the church is very valuable—he tries to inspire and pass that belief on to his congregation. It must be working because many people say that West Side is very friendly and loving!
Our Minister of Music is RussBurch. Russ is in his 15th year as our worship leader. He attended Olivet Nazarene University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. Russ also received his Master of Music Education degree from Indiana University. Russ teaches band and music for the Taylorville school district. Russ's wife, Rachel, also graduated from Olivet Nazarene University. She serves as the Nazarene Missions International local president. Her days are occupied teaching three of their five children at home. The othe two are attending Olivet Nazarene University. Russ says: I love leading the worship for West Side! God has directed in so many awesome ways. Using my music abilities to draw people into a relationship with God is the greatest thing I can imagine!
